Short answer

Several online banks that use Zelle put it right in their own app: Ally, Capital One 360, Discover, SoFi, Varo and American Express Rewards Checking all say so on their own pages. Chime and Betterment say they do not offer Zelle.

On this page

Zelle works only inside a participating bank’s app or online banking. American Express puts it plainly: both parties must be enrolled with Zelle through their U.S.-based financial institution’s online or mobile banking. So “does my online bank have Zelle” really means “is Zelle inside my bank’s app”.

How to read the table

Yes means the bank’s own page says Zelle is in its app, or Zelle lists the bank as a participant. No means the bank’s own page says it does not offer Zelle.

“Daily Zelle send limit” is the figure the bank itself publishes.

Details that change the answer

Ally Bank. You can use Ally Spending, Savings or Money Market accounts with Zelle. Ally notes that sending money from savings or money market counts toward those accounts’ monthly transaction limits. Ally does not charge a fee.

American Express. Amex’s Zelle page is for American Express Rewards Checking. Enrollment with a Rewards Checking account is required. Amex says select transactions could take up to 3 business days.

Capital One 360. Any Capital One checking account works, including 360 Checking. You can send up to $3,000 per day. There are no limits on how much you can request. Capital One does not charge a fee.

Discover. You must have owned an eligible account for at least 90 days before you enroll. The daily send limit is $600, and Discover may raise or lower it. From October 8, 2026, Discover Money Market accounts drop out of Zelle; eligible accounts become Cashback Debit and Personal Checking. Zelle transfers do not earn the 1% debit cashback.

SoFi. Zelle is in the SoFi app for SoFi Checking. SoFi does not charge a fee and says eligibility criteria and limits apply.

Varo. Varo says Zelle is free in its app and that qualifications apply.

Warning

A Zelle payment to someone already enrolled usually cannot be canceled. Ally says neither it nor Zelle offers purchase protection. Send only to people you know and trust.

If your online bank does not have Zelle

Chime points customers to Pay Anyone. Recipients who do not use Chime have 14 calendar days to claim the money with a U.S.-issued debit card.

Betterment says you can use Venmo or Cash App with Betterment Checking. Wealthfront and Current also point to payment apps you link with your routing and account numbers or your debit card.

If you need Zelle itself, you need an account at a bank that offers it in its app. For how the apps compare, see Zelle vs Cash App, Cash App limits and Venmo limits.
