Verified vs unverified: what changes

Cash App calls an account “verified” once it has confirmed your identity. Its help page on raising limits says verification uses your full name, date of birth and SSN or ITIN. Cash App may also ask for your full SSN or ITIN, residential address, an unexpired government photo ID, or proof of income or source of funds. Cash App says it cannot verify anyone under 18.

Limit Unverified Verified
Send (rolling 30 days) $1,000 $40,000
Receive (rolling 30 days) $1,000
Total account limit $1,500
Cash balance $1,000 Unlimited
Identity check required No Yes

To see your own figures: tap the profile icon, then Limits under Account & Settings. For verified accounts this is the only place the receive limit appears.

Sponsored accounts are Cash App accounts for teens aged 13 to 17 that a parent or guardian oversees. Cash App’s page for sponsored accounts lists their caps:

Sponsored account limit Amount
Send $1,000 per 30 days
Receive and request, including allowance payments $2,500 per 30 days
Cash out from the balance $25,000 per 7 days
Add cash to the balance $7,500 per 30 days
Direct deposit $5,000 per day; $10,000 per 30 days
Paper money deposit $500 per 7 days; $4,000 per 30 days
Bitcoin and stocks (buying and Round Up) $400 per 30 days each, with the sponsor’s approval

A sponsor can set lower limits, but not higher than these. Cash App’s general Account Limits page puts sponsored accounts together with unverified ones at $1,000 sent and received; the table above comes from the page Cash App wrote for sponsored accounts, which lists each of their limits separately. The Limits screen in the sponsored account shows the caps that apply to it.

Cash App Card limits

The Cash App Card is the debit card tied to your balance. Its limits are separate from send and receive limits.

  • Card spending per day$7,000
  • Card spending per week$10,000
  • Card spending per month$25,000
  • ATM and cash backAt least $1,000 per week (Cash App says your actual limit may be higher)
  • ATM fee charged by Cash App$2.50, plus any ATM operator fee

Two details matter here:

  • Declined attempts count. Cash App says any attempted card transaction, successful or declined, applies toward the spending limits.
  • Resets are at fixed times. The daily limit resets at 7:00 PM ET, the weekly limit at 7:00 PM ET every Saturday, and the monthly limit at 7:00 PM ET on the last day of the month.

Cash App offers free withdrawals at in-network ATMs to customers who qualify for Cash App Green (for example, $500 in qualifying card spending or $300 in qualifying paycheck deposits). It says that as of November 5, 2025 it no longer reimburses out-of-network ATM fees.

Bitcoin limits

Cash App’s bitcoin help page says sending bitcoin has limits, that they are rolling over any 1-day, 7-day and 30-day period, and that they reset at the top of the next hour. You see them under Profile → Limits.

Moving money to your bank

Getting money out of Cash App has its own speed and fee rules:

  • Standard transfer: free, usually arrives in 1–3 business days.
  • Instant transfer: 0.5%–2.5% fee (minimum $0.25–$1, maximum $75), typically arrives immediately to a linked debit card. The exact fee is shown before you confirm.

Compare this with Venmo and PayPal in instant transfer fee.

What to do when you hit a limit

  1. Check which limit you hit. Profile → Limits shows send, receive, card and bitcoin limits separately.
  2. Verify your identity if you are unverified. This is the only route Cash App’s help center describes for higher send limits.
  3. Wait for the window to roll. The 30-day send limit is rolling, so older payments drop out one by one.
  4. Check for extra accounts. Cash App says that if you do not think you have reached your limit, you may need to consolidate accounts you have created.
  5. Answer document requests. If Cash App asks for income documents and cannot verify them, it says it may lower your limits.

Warning

Cash App says its support will never ask you to send a payment, make a purchase, download remote access apps or complete “test” transactions, and will never ask for your sign-in code or PIN. Anyone offering to “raise your limit” or “unlock” a payment for a fee is not Cash App. Contact support only from inside the app or at cash.app/help.
