Where our numbers come from, and how old they are allowed to get.
Money-transfer data goes stale quietly. A bank changes its wire fee in a new fee schedule; a payment app raises a limit in a help article. This page explains how we keep up and what you can rely on.
Which sources we accept
| Kind of fact | Accepted source |
|---|---|
| Bank fees, limits, cutoff times | The bank’s own fee schedule, deposit account agreement or help pages |
| Credit union fees and limits | The credit union’s own disclosures and help pages |
| Payment app limits, fees, timing | The app’s own help center or user agreement |
| Zelle participation | Zelle’s list of participating banks and credit unions, and the bank’s own Zelle page |
| ACH rules and schedules | Nacha and the Federal Reserve |
| Wire operating hours and holidays | The Federal Reserve (Fedwire, Federal Reserve Financial Services) |
| Consumer rights | The CFPB and the text of the regulation |
| Bank and credit union identity | FDIC BankFind and NCUA records |
Other websites, forums and comparison tables can point us to a question. They are never the source of a figure.
How a figure appears on a page
Every figure block ends with a source line: the name of the source, a link to it and the date we checked it. For example:
Source: Federal Reserve Financial Services: Fedwire operating hours · Checked on September 26, 2026
A page’s “Checked on” stamp under the headline shows the most recent full check of its figures.
When a bank does not publish a number
We leave it out of the page. We do not estimate, we do not copy a figure from a different account type, and we do not borrow it from another bank or website. Where possible we tell you where to find the number yourself, such as your app’s transfer screen or your account agreement.
Times and time zones
We write times in US Eastern Time (ET). When a bank publishes a cutoff in its local time, we convert it and say that we did.
How often we re-check
| Content | Re-check |
|---|---|
| Bank and app facts | Every quarter, and when we learn of a change |
| Tables across many banks | Every month |
| Explainers and comparisons | Every year, and when a rule changes |
A figure older than 90 days since its check date is re-checked before we update or republish any page that shows it.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong or out of date, we fix it and log the change on our corrections page. You can report one through our contact form.
What this site is not
Send & Pray explains how payment systems work. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, and we cannot act on any transfer. Your bank or app is the final word on your own account.
