Is Columbus Day 2026 a bank holiday? Yes for the Federal Reserve: Monday, October 12, 2026 is on its holiday schedule. Fedwire does not run that day, so a wire you miss on Friday, October 9, goes out on Tuesday, October 13. FedACH stops early Saturday, October 10, and restarts Monday evening. FedNow instant payments keep running through the holiday.

Columbus Day is the next of the four Federal Reserve holidays left in 2026. It lands on a Monday, so for wires and bank-to-bank transfers it turns an ordinary weekend into a three-day one.

What keeps moving

The FedNow Service runs a 24-hour business day every day of the week, including weekends and Federal Reserve holidays, so instant payments between banks that use FedNow can still land on October 12. Whether your bank offers FedNow payments is up to the bank.
