How much you can send with Zelle at USAA in 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days, and how many payments.

The USAA Zelle limit is $1,700 in any 24-hour period, $5,000 in any 7-day period and $10,000 in any 30-day period. On top of the dollar caps, USAA counts payments: up to 10 in 24 hours, 21 in 7 days and 90 in 30 days. USAA Federal Savings Bank sets these limits, puts no limit on money you receive and charges no fee for Zelle.

The periods are rolling: USAA says “any 24-hour period”, “any 7-day period” and “any 30-day period”, so a payment stops counting 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days after you send it, not at midnight. Each payment has to fit all three windows at once, both in dollars and in number of payments.

An earlier, lower set of limits still appears in USAA’s Send Money Terms of Service (PDF, dated April 30, 2025): $1,000 per payment and per 24 hours, $2,500 per seven days, $10,000 per 30 days and three payments a day. USAA’s Zelle FAQ and Zelle page show the current limits above.

Receiving money with Zelle at USAA

USAA puts no limit on the amount you can receive with Zelle. The person paying you is held to the limits of their own bank or credit union, so a large payment may have to be split across days on their side.

If you are already enrolled, money sent to your email address or U.S. mobile number goes straight into your USAA account, typically within minutes. If you are not enrolled and do not enroll within 14 days, the payment expires and you do not receive it.

  2. Minutes lateran enrolled recipient typically has the money.
  3. Up to 14 daysan unenrolled recipient gets a text or email asking them to enroll.
  4. Day 14if they have not enrolled, the payment expires and the money goes back to your account.

You can cancel only a payment that is still waiting for an unenrolled recipient: open Activity, choose the payment and select “Cancel This Payment”. Warning

Neither USAA nor Zelle offers purchase protection. USAA advises against using Zelle to pay someone you do not know or to buy from online sales sites. If you sent money to the wrong person, call USAA at 800-531-8722 right away.

What to do if you need to send more

  1. Wait for the window to roll. A payment drops out of the 24-hour count a day after you sent it; the 7-day and 30-day totals still apply.
  2. Count your payments. Ten payments in 24 hours stops you even if you are under $1,700.
  3. Send a wire for one large payment. USAA’s wire fees, cutoff times and steps are in usaa wire transfer.
