The Wells Fargo Zelle limit runs on rolling 24-hour and 30-day windows, not calendar days.

Wells Fargo’s Zelle terms effective September 15, 2026 set the sending limit for most consumer accounts at $3,500 per rolling 24 hours and $20,000 per rolling 30 days. Small Business accounts get $15,000 and $60,000. Your own limit can be lower based on account history, the recipient and risk checks, and the exact amount appears after you sign in.

These are the published maximums. The addendum says Wells Fargo may set lower limits based on risk factors, and that a customer whose Zelle use was suspended and then reinstated may have lower limits. The Wells Fargo Zelle FAQ adds that some consumer customers may see higher limits from time to time. Treat the figure in your app as the one that applies.

How the rolling windows work

A rolling 24-hour limit looks back over the previous 24 hours from the moment you send. Money sent at 3 p.m. on Monday counts against you until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, whatever the date says. The 30-day limit works the same way over the previous 30 days.

The FAQ gives one consequence plainly: a single $3,500 payment uses the whole 24-hour allowance on a consumer account. A second payment the same evening will be declined even though a new calendar day has started.

Both windows apply at once. Five $3,500 payments on five separate days reach $17,500, leaving $2,500 of the 30-day limit for the rest of that window.

Why your limit may be lower

Wells Fargo says limits vary by your account and online banking history, by the recipient and by your payment history with each recipient. A recipient you have paid many times may allow a larger payment than someone you are paying for the first time.

The first payment to a new recipient also needs a one-time access code sent by text. Wells Fargo says these texts come from 93557 or 93729. A code request you did not start is a warning sign: do not share it with anyone who calls or messages you.

A balance larger than the limit does not raise the limit. For the general rules of the service, read what is Zelle. For the bank’s other transfer information, see does Wells Fargo have Zelle.

Receiving money and fees

Wells Fargo does not set a receiving limit. The sender’s own bank limit still caps what one person can send you.

Wells Fargo charges no fee to send or receive with Zelle. Your mobile carrier’s message and data rates and your account’s own fees can still apply.

Zelle with Wells Fargo needs a U.S. checking or savings account and an eligible U.S. mobile number or email address. The FAQ excludes Voice over Internet Protocol, toll-free and landline numbers.

Timing, scheduled payments and cancelling

Payments to an enrolled recipient typically arrive within minutes. Wells Fargo may delay or block a payment to protect your account. A payment still on the way is not necessarily a limit problem: read Zelle payment pending before sending it again.

Situation What Wells Fargo says
Recipient already enrolled The payment cannot be canceled once sent
Recipient not enrolled Can be canceled while pending; returned if they do not enroll within 14 days
Scheduled payment Sent just after midnight on the scheduled day; can be canceled until 11:30 p.m. Pacific Time the day before
How far ahead Up to one year, to enrolled recipients only

If you paid a scammer

Zelle payments have no purchase protection, so pay only people you know and trust. If someone tricked you into sending money, Wells Fargo lists Online Banking Customer Service at 1-800-956-4442, available 24 hours a day. The FAQ says qualifying imposter scams may be eligible for reimbursement. Read Zelle scam refund for what to collect before you call. Never give a recovery service access to your bank account.
