Zelle at U.S. Bank

Zelle is in the U.S. Bank Mobile App and online banking. U.S. Bank states: “U.S. Bank does not charge any fees to use Zelle in the U.S. Bank Mobile App or online banking.”

U.S. Bank sets two Zelle limits, “The amount that can be sent for each day” and “The total amount that can be sent over a 30-day period”; they are “set per person, not per account” and “cannot be changed.” You find your figures in the app under Account services, then Transaction limits.

Same-day domestic wires must be in by 5:30 PM ET (U.S. Bank states 4:30 p.m. CT); international wires by 4:00 PM ET (3 p.m. CT). Federal tax payment wires close at 3:30 PM ET (2:30 p.m. CT).

Wires in the U.S. Bank Mobile App and online banking are limited to domestic transactions in U.S. dollars; consumers send international wires at a branch or by phone. Same-day wires “can’t be canceled once you’ve submitted them”; a future-dated wire can be changed or canceled until 11:59 p.m. CT the day before its send date (12:59 AM ET on the send date). On qualifying U.S. Bank Smartly Rewards tiers, the fees for the first two incoming wires per Smartly Checking statement period are waived.

External transfers (ACH)

Transfers between U.S. Bank and your accounts at other U.S. banks typically arrive “within one to three Business Days” at standard delivery. A one-time standard transfer started before 9:00 PM ET (8:00 p.m. CT) on a business day begins processing immediately, and instant transfers are available to participating banks. “We don’t charge a fee for outbound transfers”; inbound transfers are free too. “Your dollar limit will be displayed when you initiate a transfer,” and limits reset each business day at midnight CT. A U.S. Bank help article gives 2 to 3 business days for outbound transfers; the Digital Services Agreement’s one to three business days is the governing text.
